This morning, on my usual cycle to work, I was almost hit from the side by a tosser in a massive 4x4 who turned right across me. This is the third time this has happened to me in the past couple of years, plus my sister was knocked off her bike last year by a woman in a shiny new SUV doing the "turning right, looking left" trick.

I was so pissed off, I chased the guy for half a mile, aiming to kick a nice dent into one of his panels. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) he got away. This guy's sheer stupidity could easily have cost me my life.

These cars are known to be significantly more dangerous than other cars. They also spew out double the CO2. In my eyes, only the greediest, most selfish type of people would want to drive one of these things, knowing the harm they cause.

IMHO it's time to ban them, except for people who genuinely need to drive off-road (farmers and the like). I'm certain that nobody in Primrose Hill (where this happened) needs to drive one of these bloated trucks.

Why are they called "suv" ? They've the aerodynamics of a 3 storey town house , so they can hardly be called sporty , no ? !confused! . Although i am biased as if it hasn't got a rag roof i'm not interested . JJ .

Speaking as someone who owns a SUV [God. I f******g hate that Americanism] I would like to state that I have never knocked anybody over, I don't just use my car for tootling around town. I have a massive double axle caravan, and before you ask , I'm not a Gypo....
We've travelled all around Europe, as far as Croatia, Southern Spain, driven all over the sierra's [mountains,not cars] The Dolomites in Italy, the Alps, etc.
I use my car for It's proper use, and I run my car on Biodiesel. I too, detest those Yuppie Bastards who use their cars as status symbols.

The official figure is 3500 people killed on the roads. It is the mass slaughter of innocents, over half of them children. This is the figure "killed on the roads" but the figures don't include those that die later in hospitals not counting the thousands maimed for life. In a war these figures would be unacceptable!

If a child is murdered then there is a national outcry but the killing on our roads is pre-meditated but rationalised by the car driver and implicitly by most of the population. SUV drivers are just the worst example of this.!shocked!

I'm sure the driver behind who can't see past understands this. Besides, how else can one drive Joshua and Emily to school and save face with the other parents? Doesn't bear thinking about.
