Have you noticed the decline in VHS blank video tapes-surely everyone hasn't bought a DVD recorder?

I think there just isn't any profit in them anymore and therefore not worth manufacturing. Plus also that there isn't really anything worth recording on TV anymore.

I have just thrown a black bin bag full of 3 and 4 hr VHS tapes away. It seemed a shame as they were perfectly OK but no one wanted them. Once you have seen the light and used a DVD+HDD recorder, you never want to go back.

the shops ought to reduce them down a bit.

no i dont buy blanks now i look around the flat for stuff i now have clearer on dvd eg old 60s tv shows then erase them.

Bout time too...bloody cumbersome things. Video is becoming a relic of a bygone age. DVD is the way forward and think how much space you save in ratio to video tapes...We wont even go into the occasional tracking problems.....

The local price is a quid a piece, though in the past I bought seconds in bulk and paid ?10 for 50 tapes, and made 40 good ones out of them.

I still cannot believe overnight the nation has thrown away Video Recorders by the gross,in favour of a DVD recorder.They cannot master the Video machine yet... let alone read the instruction book.

...and you are right in what you say,the price of a VHS tape is increasing daily....that's if you can find one?.

I agree the best reproduction is from a DVD.
