The Turner prize does not depend on the "art object" per se but the literary justification. However all great artists have been seers.
With the emergence of "conceptualism" the idea was said to be the art! Art objects could be constructed by workers employed by the"artist"using a plan!
In the future this will be seen as a pseudo philosophy and aesthetics used again to judge what is created by the artist.!happy!

The trouble is that to the general public "as a whole" do not understand the concept! To them it's just either "a shed", "half a cow", "messy bed", "painting draw by a 2 year old", etc.... They cannot see what all the fuss is about

Hi Jayr,
Art is revealed when you take it out of the gallery and put it on to a skip. A painting, for example, will most probably be retrieved. The rest remains rubbish! A shed is a shed is a shed.!happy!

I can agree with that but if you think about the monetry value of art, it's all subjective. A painting is worth ?22m to whom? If you don't like it you won't buy it and then it is worth nothing. The value comes from what someone is prepared to pay.

Hi Jacques,
Art is beautiful and buyers like to use it decoratively as well as an investment. Not many dirty old beds in the houses of collectors!
True the appreciation of art is subjective.!cool!

Exactly Mike - plus as you say in the post below "art is subjective". One man's messy bed is another man's million pound art piece.
Art in the mind of the average person on the street is a painting or a statue!
