I would just like to take this opportunity to wish Wigan Athletic all the best for this afternoon's Carling Cup final against the mighty Manchester United.

For a club the size of Wigan just promoted from the Championship to spend all season in the top half of the Premiership and to reach the final of a major cup is a fantastic achievement especially when you see how rubbish my team Sunderland have done.

My head says Man U will win today in a close game but my heart says Wigan for the Carling Cup and a place in Europe!!!! If Man U do win I just hope it is not through a dodgy refereeing decision and they actually deserve to win!

Anyway come on Wigan and good luck!!!!!

Wigan deserve it without question.........and I'd love to see Malcolm Glazers face when he hears that Wigan won.

No worries, the better team clearly won so congratulations Manchester United.

I just want to say what a player Wayne Rooney is at such a young age.

Saw Man U players celebrating after winning the Carling/Milk/League cup as if it was the World Cup. Seemed to remember a few years ago when they were winning everything, they didn't go into the FA Cup as they wanted to go into some Euro competition. Now after a few years of drought, they'd probably go ape if they won the Evening News 5-a-side.

It was actually a tournament in Brazil where they subsequently flopped!!!! It was a supposed media exercise for England to get brownie points for hosting the World Cup in 2006............which ultimately went to Germany.
