Why all this bloody hype over St paddy's day?
We aren't allowed to be patriotic and celebrate St George's Day and fly the English flag in some places, in case it upsets someone, so I cannot understand all this shite today. Promotions, silly hats, idiots doing stupid things and excusing it as 'having a laugh'.
It's pathetic.
Baa humbug

Nothing wrong in people enjoying themselves mr baa humbug. But I do think we should make more of our St Georges day. In fact I am seeing more celebrations over the last couple of years, all pub based it's true.

dont forget the irish are an ethnic group so no-one is allowed to criticize their festivals or you are a RACIST!!!anyway as an Englishman living in Ireland away from all that multicultural crap i would like to wish everyone a happy ST.PATS.i know that if any minorities over here objected to the Irish flying their own flag they would get a volley of abuse followed by a good kicking

You could and should celebrate St George's Day, and fly the flag with pride. The main problem is that the flag has been hijacked by nasty, narrow-minded bigots and is seen to represent their agenda rather than being a symbol for pride in England.
It's up to you to reclaim the flag from the extremists. The nation that gave us Shakespeare, Newton, Dickens, Blake, Turner and many more geniuses should be proud and free to celebrate its achievements, not ashamed to display its flag because of it's associations with football hooligans and those who hate people of different skin pigmentation.
