Do we really need Parliament

What with corruption and the low esteem that the people hold politicians in I say that we ought to get rid of the lot (through the ballot box of course!) of them because they are an anachronism in the 21st century.
The word parliament comes from the French verb parle, to speak. Parliament used to be a place where one came to be heard by as many of the people as possible. In the digital age there are far superior forms of communicating to the people.
I think that we should pick a cheif executive for England by digital broadcast. A short list should be made up by nominations from the country by electronic voting. The list should be wittled down until the UK Cheif Executive is found. My choice would be Richard Branson!
Then the UKCE should just get on with it with advice from whomever, he or she, wants to get it from. I should imagine that the Civil Service would go because no-one would need to use it! The Parliament buildings become a museum.
Once we get rid of the present outdated system then I am sure that this country would be far more successful, economically, politically with less need for "war war when the jaw jaw! stops .!cool!
