Yes you are right - it is, very much so. But then again it depends on what you want to discuss - what is important to you, may not be important to other people as they are different. Seems to me that most people are so bedraggled with modern life thee days, that they simply cant be arsed to enter heavy discussions. Some people want to come home from work, sit in front of the box, eat their tea, laugh, fart and go to sleep. 9-5. Micro meals. Pay the bills. Have a beer at the weekend. Get their pay. Middle of the road. Thats enough for some people, for others (myself included) its not. Thats fine with me though - each to their own.
The media is full of superficiality for sure! These days unfortunately celebs, sport stars and chat show hosts are worshipped by most, mainly the younger generation. Christ look at wayne rooney, what a talent, but lets be frank he has a face like a smacked arse and has ben caught knobbing an old scouse brass! Not much of a role model is he! Personally i have many varied interests that i think are meaningful and constructive, but i also hold my hands up to partaking in watching utter drivel such as footballers wives, the apprentice and other mindless crap that entertain me - i wonder what that makes me?!
for me personally the only time i see people having meaningful and constructive communication is when they are off their faces round a friends house 3am sunday morning - i find it realy sad that people have to have litres of booze and a gram of coke before they can say what they really think about one another!
