Punk was shite. All the bands they tried to destroy, Floyd, Zepp, Genesis etc still sell records by the muillion and Malcom McLaren is now a media luvvie. Not one virtuoso musician appeared from punk, Rat Scabies aside they were mostly talentless middle class wankers who now work in the city!

So you suggest punk was a failure? Punk was the wake-up call needed at the time, and was a movement that inspired others (new wave etc). For something that was never meant to last, its influence is still being felt today. Not bad for a failure.

So what? It was about expression, not technique.

Really? Well at least you couldn't accuse them of being cynical, corporate careerists then.
