hey guys,
i dont know if anyone can help me but my computer is pausing/freezing/lagging every minute or two (sometimes more/less) and from what I can see this is down to my PF Usage being anywwhere between 300-400MB which ive read is ridiculously high and its definitely not normally like that.
my CPU Usage is pretty low and ive not got any extra programmes open and cant see any viruses. Ive also run adaware and spybot but nothign deleted helped this issue.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any help seriously appreciated, i dont want this computer to die!
thanks in advance

Go to Start/Control Panel/Performance & Maintenance/Systems, go to the tab Advanced, then click on Performance Options/Advanced.
There should be a button for Virtual Memory. Click on that.
Then set the Initial Size and Maximum Size both to the same value of 1.5x your PCs amount of memory. If you have 512MB, set it to 768MB. Then click the button Set.
That should lower your PF Usage.
You will probably have to reboot.

My PF is 10GB on my main PC but thats down to 8gb of ram in it heh, i would kill for it to only have a 400mb one heh.
The freezes will either down to rogue software or the PF not matching the ram
Be aware as well that if you have multip drives or partitions, its advisable as a performance tweak to have a pagefile on each drive

You might have the dreaded Dust Mite problem!
Have a look inside your box and give you heatsink
and just about everything else a good clean inside
your Box!
This might help!
You also done a Defrag of you drives laltely?

"no one talks about defragging nowadays"
Yes I agree, it is something that is known about by "older" users. It would be useful if the OP system gave you a reminder now'n and again to do.
