Hollywood for Ugly People

Graham Sutherland was commissioned to paint a picture of the Cabinet of the day. The fee was enormous. He declined to paint the group portrait "because of their unremitting ugliness."

On the forums you nearly all talk of the UK,USA, France as if they represent their peoples but they only exist as an abstraction. However behind these economic power structures are very real individuals called politicians. Most people think that Tony Blair and Bush, for example have real power. I say that they are mere actors with scripts.

What is an actor? In my experience actors do what they are told because they get paid to learn their lines. What politician do you know that answers surprise questions on television in live interviews, or gives a public speech without reading a script?

There are several very rich men who rule the world because they have the economic power to put any government into power. They are the ones who finance political parties and control them even in so called liberal democracies. The language of politics is merely the verbal justification for the orders they have been told to do.

If you want to discover the motivation for someone's political actions it is also a good idea to check out who gains financially. Politicians have enormous perks, wages, cars, big houses and so on whatever political system they represent. They also expendable and expellable just in the same way an actors is. When your public don't like you anymore you wont be part of ugly Hollywood.

Think about it!

No-one seems to be commenting on my hypotheses that politicians are merely actors. If you don't agree with me please say why and comment on this posting.

Hello Mike,

I'd say your hypothesis is eminently feasible.

You state the obvious, good sir. They, especially a jackal like Blair, put on an act for the voter saying he's all in favour of helping the country and the people, when really all he's interested in is himself, his pocket and his power.

Mojo,

It is not obvious to the genaral public. Most people believe that they lie and are in it for the massive financial rewards but that is not the same as being a paid actor with a script. Look at all those chortling alcoholics at question time! They have no power at all.

Mojo,

Lawyers do act but then that is different to being a paid actor who has to learn his lines before he speaks to the people in public. Politicians are afraid of speaking the truth or saying what they really believe.
Mike.
