Billy Preston dead

Post by Guilbert »

Organist (ooh ahh missus) Billy Preston has died.

Played with both the Beatles ( Get back etc) and Rolling Stones.

Very few people have done that.

Had a few his singles of his own as well.

Awwwww...that's really sad! Was only enjoying his achingly-soulful rendition of "My Sweet Lord" on the 'Concert for George' dvd a week ago too...

It sounds like he'd been suffering for a long time, now may the good lord shine a light on Mr Billy Preston!
He played on 3 of the Stones coolest tracks ever from the bands best era "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?", "I Got The Blues" & "Shine A Light"
They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

Yeah sorry to see him go. He had been sick for a while. I think a month or two ago they said he was it the hospital and I surely thought he was gonna recover unlike some of our other r & b greats (Barry White, Luther Vandross, Lou Rawls etc). Earlier this year I obtained a copy of Billy Preston on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert back in the 1970s and he put on a show. He sang all of his hits at that time. Certainly hearing his songs live has some power to it for sure. He will be missed.
