As an ex Rugby League pro, during pre-match team talks we were always made aware of any weakness in the opposing side, including any players carrying an injury & told to play on these weaknesses.

Given all the publicity about Rooney's injury I would be amazed if coaches of other teams are not telling their players to go in hard on Rooney in the hope of putting him out of the game.

Win at all costs appears to be the ethos in the modern game.

I agree, it could even be worth gettting sent off if they take him out. And I bet they would be on a secret bonus.

BTW I really think England are putting toooo much emphasis on him. I believe there are a few other players in the England team that might feel the same way. Think about it, put yourself in their shoes!!!!!

I have actually got sick of hearing about the foot. I wouldn't have been surprised if the foot hadn't "kicked" the Al Zarqawi news off the headlines if it had had a problem.
