just got back from a couple of weeks at the world cup and i've gotta say wot a fantastic welcome we had, they bent over backwards to help out when needed and made us feel like they were actually happy to see us out there.
I think maybe the fact that there wasn't a single spot of bother that we saw may have helped, sitting in bars having a beer with all fans from Italians to Dutch to Mexicans made it a real party atmosphere.
It did make us think if this was held over here would we as a nation be as friendly - quick example, we got lost one day and stopped to ask a local, we were struggling to work out the directions so she jumped in her car, told us to follow and took us there herself - not many single women would do that to a group of six blokes !thumbsup!
ps cheers flat eric for the recommendations, found the cake hotel, couldn't walk for two days afterwards! !drink!
