Question for a computer expert

I've been having problems with my PC again and would be grateful if the PC experts could give me some advice (again sorry).

I keep getting error messages which I've gone on to report to microsoft who tell me through their error reporting system that I need to download / Install Windows XP Service Pack 2.

The last time I installed something like this from them my virus protection 'things' (Macafee Security Centre) wouldn't work properly after doing it and I ended up phoning Microsoft which resulted in me removing whatever I had installed from them.

I am almost certain the thing I installed was Service Pack 1 so my question is does Service Pack 2 create the same problems, should I install it etc?

If anyone does reply can you please remember I am as technical when it comes to PC's as a brick. !confused!

Cheers

Andy

My install of SP2 was a breeze - no problems at all, but there are horror stories out there.

I believe McAfee did sort out their issues with SP2.

You might want to check with McAfee for work arounds and/or patches.

Yes indeed. I use McAfee with XP and SP2 and no problems.

I believe one should disable McAfee during installation.

Uninstall Macafee - download SP2 & install it - Reinstall Macafee & all it's updates.
