Well, all he did wrong was failing to switch a microphone off.

When he's learned some French he can apologise to Marcel Desailly in his native tongue.

Fuck me todge very touchy feely with all this stuff, listen he made a mistake making an off the air remark (or so he thought). Ian Wright one of the founder members of the "Kick Racism Out Of Football" has been one of the biggest outspoken "experts" in saying that only an Englishman should manage the English National Team and not a foreigner ... well let's say if that cannot be construed as one of the biggest racial slurs in football of all time well I must be reading from the wrong fucking textbook.
Basic fact of it is "Big Ron" tells it like it is and is one of the "old school" which no doubt is a dying breed in the top flight of Professional Football.
But he also is one of the best summarisers and experts on the professional game and to see him still being "castrated" for this is quite frankly one for the pc brigade to rejoice, but when you see that smarmy bastard Venebles who has done much, much more distateful shite and did not have his contract renewed by the FA (which is pretty good going by Sven) bleating the same old meaingless shite out and getting no doubt well paid for it on ITV ... it makes me want to cry.

I agree with you crofter. Suprising as it may be, calling someone a 'lazy nigger' in the heat of the moment just means he let his emotions get the better of him. He rightly got sacked but that doesn't mean we should block someone from making a living just because of one mistake.

While I was out at the weekend my mate accidently stood on my toe. He weighs 18 stone and I said 'watch it you clumsy fat bastard!'. It doesn't mean I have a secret hate of fat people! In response he said 'shut it big nose', does that mean we shouldn't be friends?

It was a mistake & he's paid badly for it. Throughout his footballing career I'm guessing he's made a lot of black friends who he's let down. He must have felt sick with embarrassment and shame having to apologise to all his friends & family.

He basically called someone a bad name. It doesn't mean he's racist, he's just a stupid, fat, bald headed gobshite!

!laugh!

I don't know Crofter. You may well be right about Ron.

It's just the random arbitary nature of it all
Atkinson -guilty-rehabilitated
Richard Bacon -guilty-nowhere
John Leslie -innocent-nowhere.
Garth Crooks-inept-everywhere.
Manning -pariah Davidson -BBC stalwart
and on,and on.......

I'm certainly expecting "Barrymore on swimming" in the autumn schedules

Yeah some priceless observations Todge, particularly like the Barrymore "Swimming with Dolphins" one and the Garth Crooks as "The Poet Laureate" of Soccer idea ... have you ever considered the position of head of programming on ITV as those might strike a chord with the general "ie braindead" public??

During the World Cup recently the UK G2 channel showed a lot of the matches, and big Ron was assisting with the commentary.

It was good to hear him again.

He said the japanese were slit eyed bastards, the costa ricans were black bastards and the germans were war mongering bastards (not really)

Not really, but all things in proportion.
He said something stupid, but he paid for that.

Well, we could sponsor Barrymore's record attempt to cross the Irish Sea swimming...
