You cannot patent ideas

If you can market that Idea into a physical product/material, you might be able to patent/copyright it.

They guy who created the concept of WWW on the internet, was NOT able to copyright/patent it, but he has been given acknowledgement for it.

You can't copyright a Concept or Idea, but if what your idea is, is marketable, into a possible product/material/activity/etc, there is a good chance you can.

Hi Hunni,

Zipper may well be right but this might be worth a try??

You (or whoever's idea it is) write it out with as much detail and information as possible. Make sure that you/they include full name(s), address, etc and send the original (keeping a copy for yourself/themsleves) to the "Uk Copyright Service".

If they accept it at least there's proof that it was your/their idea.

Have a look here

I would indeed recommand that you definitely keep your idea to yourself, there is no need whatsoever to let anyone know the content or nature of the idea when all you are asking for is a way to protect it.

Copyright is your best option, until you can make it a marketable product in which case you can swicth to a patent.

Copyright Witness Ltd is the registrant of http://copyrightservice.co.uk/, once again, be careful as this is a limited company, that is a private entity on which you have absolutely no control whatsoever. if the idea is worth it I would definitel record it wit ha sollicitor, or at least get advice form a sollicitor you can easily find in London people who are specialised in intellectual property. so it is a nice idea to ask kon this forum, but to my knowledge none of us does specialise in the area and your best bet still remains a truly professional advice.

Gooid luck with your idea

All the best

Hunni,
Good advice from Patrick there as well.
The cost may be worth it.

Only thing is Hunny unless you do something with this idea how can you be sure that someone hasnt already thought of it, it could already be copyrighted.
