I've had it recommended to me- but never used it. Thanks for the warning!

Limewire afaik is free from adware/spyware but does have nagware i.e. upgrade to the pro version.
It uses the Gnutella network which is riddled with viruses, some are easy to spot some aren't.

Most P to P programmes contain spyware viruses etc, some are much better than others, limewire is limited in terms of files imho, try shareaza, i have run it for a while and had no major problems, also download ewido to deal with any difficult trojans etc..

What's up Well! I have LimeWire and I haven't had a problem with it yet! If there is a file that you want to download and it's under a different software for playing the download, LimeWire will ask you if you still want to download it, but then you'd have to download the other file playing program and you don't want that because that's where the viruses pop up. Pick only the ones YOUR computer will play and you'll be ok!

shareaza is free, nearly all p to p progs are free, ewido is microsofts preffered spyware removal tool it,s free for two weeks then it remains completely useable but without some fratures but still works fine.

I don't know. I have the 4.9.14. I guess that's the top version. I don't have any problems with viruses at all with this version of LimeWire. I do know if a file is so-called "corrupted" it will let you know and will ask if you still want to download it. Most likely, you wouldn't.
