Autism is considered as a spectrum disorder (the term ASD = Autistic Spectrum Disorder) with Aspergers' being characterised as high-functioning autism. It's funny, but there are so many intellectual people you come across that fit that mold completely. Academia is rife with them! It makes sense, therefore, that a number of MPs could possibly be classed as falling along the high functioning ened of the autistic spectrum. Gordon Brown? Well maybe. Personally, I just think he's a prick.

Quite possibly. It's usually identifiable by what psychologists call a Theory of Mind (ToM) problem; that is when the person can only see things from their perspective and fail to be able to take the point of another. Some people are just f*cking obstinate though and/or intentionally driven to cause others anguish and distress, or else to be mindlessly controversial.
