VIRUS WARNING!

I got this from another forum, dont know how true it is as it was a yank forum, but thought i'd warn you just incase.

My question is how we supposed to view the pic of Osama being hung:)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: FW: : PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE - NO JOKE

Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are
being sent and the moment that you open these
emails your computer will crash and you will not be
able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin
Laden Captured"

or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries
around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.

Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you
know.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY
AND CONTACTS:

You should be alert during the next days:
Do not open any message with an attached file
called

"Invitation" regardless of who sent it.

It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which
"burns" the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has
your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that
is why you should send this e-mail to all your
contacts.

It is better to receive this message 25 times than
to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called "invitation", though
sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your
computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has
been classified by Microsoft as the most
destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and
there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the
Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Funny that, we have just cleared a keylogger from one laptop, the cunt that sent it has got it back with interest, via his own virus and a trusted scource.

I keep wondering what thrill these sad little cunts who send these viruses out into the world get. And why aren`t the found and prosecuted by the authorities then never allowed computer or internet access for the rest of their pathetic existances

Yeh, people who can build virus are obviously pretty clued up cpu wise, so why dont they do something creative, or atleast spend their time making money with their tallent!

Im using Mac so it dosnt affect me anyway but it is very sad. virus builders must spend loads of time on their cpu which means they must love cpu's, so why would they attack millions of other innocent people who have the same interests.

Whenever I get such emails from friends , usually sent with the best of intentions, telling me, and the hundreds of other people they sent it to, about some threat, and urging me to send it on to anyone I know, I delete it straight away. It is always a hoax.

Some virus warnings are genuine... such as the ones you get direct from Symantec, PandaSoft, etc., when you have signed up to receive such warnings.

Most other warnings, however, are hoaxes designed to slow up the internet... they hope that people pass on the warning as an email to friends. All this does is create a mountain of spam (given the warning is a hoax, however well intentioned your email it now constitutes spam). The same goes for chainletters etc.

This well known hoax has been around in many guises for over a year. Microsoft, McAfee and CNN have never mentioned such a virus as being in existence.

There is no Olympic Torch effect and anyone reading and understanding
"If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately." would surely ask the question " if I shut down my computer, what do I do next, leave it shut down forever, throw it away or take it to a repairer" - who would have to switch it on to see what the problem was

Dom number one, you have been taken for a ride. Before wasting bandwidth here, you might have taken the time to check with a reliable virus hoax website - there's plenty around.

You're the twat, and a real one too. Posting something "in good faith" without reading it first is a really responsible, adult, thing to do - NOT.

For all you know it could have been an instruction 2to avoid a virus" which would have led people into actions which downloaded a virus - and there are plenty around, could have contained any sort of material or, as it was, contained a ludicrous hoax.

So, before calling someone, look to yourself, learn what goes on on the Net in the way of hoaxes and think before making yourself look an idiot.
