Banner ads and Firefox

Post by Jacques »

Using Firefox and extension or two and a couple of greasemonkey scripts I can surf the web without seeing a banner ad or text ad even google ads on 99.9% of websites.

Currently I can see the ones on BGAFD as I am using IE but if I switch to Firefox it's like Barry Scott got there - Band and the ads are gone!

So will banner ads, google ads and such like disappear with the increased poularity of Firefox as people can and will just block them? What will be the alternative if such a thing happens?

Firefox is a lot more secure too. But I have a problem w/ it crashing;this happens when several windows are open & a download going on, & it's stressed. I'm using an old PC w/ little memory--is that the problem?

The only times Firefox crashes for me is with embeded WMV files as it really does not like them even with the various 'fixes'. However it does hang for a little while if I am using alot of memory so you may already have found the answer to your problem.

The alternative will be that you will have to pay to view a lot more sites because most of the freesites make their revenue by people clicking on the banners, so no banners means no revenue and no freesites!sad!
