As a practical matter, if a set is less than, say, 27", does it really matter if the resolution is SD, ED, or HD?? I'm talking about general viewing, not just DVDs, & Blue Ray or HD-DVDs aren't in my immediate future, so may be disregarded. All info & opinions will be appreciated.

Just remember that a resolution of 1024x768 on a 17'' screen looks flawless, yet on a 24" screen looks crappy. Thats because the pixels are larger so produce a grainier image. Be careful as though some TV's can produce high definition picstures whist other just state they are 'HD Compatable'. This means that they can read the HD signal but will just produce a standard def picture. HD compatable just means your tv can read the signal -ie: a HD movie will play- but it won't be viewed in HD.
With a 27" screen though I can't see how the average guy will be able to notice a difference unless they sat two 27" tv's side by side and compared the picture from 3 feet away. Now if you had a 42" screen, then that would be different.
