OK here's one for you to get you thinking.

I have some high quality RM videos that need to be converted to DivX.

I have tried Boilsoft, EO video, ImToo and Riverpast with Real Player and with Real Alternative. I have tried frame serving them with AVISynth and a VirtualdubMOD with Real Splitter filter and a custom written Virtualdub template.

Nothing doing except for a black screen and audio.

Anyone have any other ideas before I physically throw these back from whence they came with a "don't ever ask again"

I have used the free Super (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) by eRightSoft for the task you describe with very good results:

When converting RM files to AVI, I select the DivX codec, an appropriate output frame size and deselect 'Use Direct Show'.

So they have been returned to the owner with a "here's your bill for wasting my day". I've never liked Real Media and in hindsight I wish I'd just said "cock off"
