noticed that there's a showing of his 1979 stand-up performance on BBC2 tonight at 22.40. if you haven't seen this i recommend watching it, a superb performance by this underrated comic/actor.

Yep. One of the best stand-up performances on film. Especially his 'white man' impression.
The documentary will be interesting too.

Thanks for the notice. I remember seeing this film at a late night cinema circa 1982. Prior was a fantastic comedian, and I'm looking forward to seeing the film again tonight.

I urge anybody to watch him. I have it on VHS and to me it's slightly better than Live on the Sunset Strip. Jo Jo Dancer is right up there with that one from 1979 in my opinion as well.

I don't know if hes underated as a comic - hes widely regarded as the greatest ever standup comic

Yeah, Lenny Henry's probably the best-known black British comedian but definitely not the funniest. But to be fair he wasn't doing comedy, he was conducting the interviews.
