It's being repeated on BBC2 on Wednesday, so I don't want to spoil things for those who haven't seen Torchwood yet. But keep your expectations in check.

I can sa that Cardiff looked fantastic, though.

Only problem I can see is that all it`ll do is water down the already weak plots on Dr who.
Look at CSI etc.

After seeing the utterly unremarkable Robin Hood, I gave this a miss. Seen some clips, however, and it put me in mind of new Who, Hustle etc - meaning the sort of cheapish-looking, aneamic production, reminiscent of childrens television, that perhaps needs more money (or the money better spent) to pull it off convincingly.

Funny, only when the BBC go all Dickens or Ayre on us do they actually give the their drama productions a decent gloss these days. Co-productions and overseas sales aside, it's as if anything else isn't quite as deserving.

I found Torchwood disapointing i'm afraid. All gloss and no script. In a phrase it's Bugs set in Cardiff with bug eyed monsters.

I didn't like it

It was supposedly adult, but it was written like the wank fantasies of a 15 year old boy who's just seen his mate's mum bend over in a short skirt and got the hormones going for the first time.

It's being heralded as a British X-Files in other places, but they're about 15 years too late. I thought it was badly written and acted and I adore classic Dr Who. The new series leaves me cold though.

Interesting comments about your daughter. Did she see the trailers and want to watch it, or did she know it was on from the Dr Who connection? The BBC have been trailing this show before the watershed, between shows kids watch, knowing full well it is NOT intended for them.

I can see it lasting one season and that`ll be the last of it. It doesn`t really stand out. Mind you neither did most of the last season of Dr who
