Transferring Super8 to DVD-R

First off, apologies to the mods if this is the wrong forum for this.
I've just been fortunate enough in Germany to lay my hands on a bunch of old (late '70s / early '80s) and rare Super8 porn movie reels.
Although right now I don't have any means of viewing them, I thought it would be a shame to let the opportunity pass - after all, I can always buy a projector or viewer.
What I'd really like to do (once I've bought said projector) is transfer them onto DVD-R for posterity. Only problem is, being a bit of a technophobe (compared to some people here anyway, it would seem) I haven't got the foggiest clue as to how to go about it. And for various reasons (which should be obvious) I'm loathe to approach a professional film services company from the Yellow Pages to do it for me, even though I'm sure that it would be just a relatively simple bread & butter job to them.
Can anyone help with some tips to (if nothing else) put me on the right track - in layman's terms, if at all possible!!.
Any tips will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance (and in hope!!)!
