Pop Ups

For some reason and despite having Mcafee and pop up stopper I've started being bombared by annoying pop up twats.

Not just getting 1 or 2 but batches of the *ucking things 15+

They come along with a pitch and other bollocks of how to stop up them, claiming a visit to:

Messenger blocker .com end ads, some other similar crap. or other tossers will put an end to the s*it.

Does anyone know of anything that actually works that is free please?

Cheers

Andy

Have you tried switching to Firefox?

Try running AdAware, as well as Spybot search & destroy. You should be able to get free downloads by typing them into Google.

Yep switch to Firefox. You can find links to Spybot and adaware on this thread:

Cheers Cactus and Jacques.

Jacques I've done all the adware downloads.

The only 1 I can't do is the last one because I don't have notepad on my PC.

The trouble I am having is while on line to the panda thingy (soz not technical) I still keep being bombarded with them.

Can I ask what's firefox (be gentle with me) and if I swap to it does it delete all emails I have in outlook express please?

Cheers

Andy

Firefox is another browser, it has an automatic popup blocker built in. You very rarely get a popup unless you physically tell Firefox to allow it.

No it will not touch any of your emails, what-so-ever, at any time. Perfectly safe.

Unfortunately I've downloaded firefox but am still getting them. (lots of them)

I've no idea what to do.

Is the Run SmitFaud: http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php vital?

Notepad is missing from my PC

Best Wishes

Andy

Ignore Smitfaud - that is for something entirely different.

Firefox should stop the pop-ups.

In Firefox:

Go to Tools > Options > Content and check 'Block Popup Windows.'

Click OK.

Sorry for the delay it was still doing it for a while but I got Spyware Doctor and at the moment it has stopped.

Having said that I still did everything you said as well and hopefully everything is working to prevent them.

Thanks for the advice.
