after a year of little outstanding sporting achievements, who do you think should be the winner? i would love it to be Beth Tweddle, the world gymnastic champion on uneven bars. this is such a monumental achievement for a Briton in a sport we hardly ever feature in at the top.

Bad form, lots of injuries, plus we're playing in their back yard..............we've no chance. I'd be surprised if we get 4-1. The Aussies are in top form as well. Maybe if they get a few injuries then we might draw, thus retaining the ashes; but I'm not holding my breath.

wonder how many people said we'd no chance after losing the first test last time?

Last year I thought we were definitely going to win the ashes. We had a strong line up and even our 1 day game was going ok! Since then we've suffered with injuries and form to really 'key' players. Panasar is a good addition but he's no Warne.

I admit that we have a good batting line up but a longer tail than Australia, and if anyone can get through our batters, it's Aussie bowlers at home. Last year Gillespie had a bad summer while Mcrath had a few injuries. If Warne has a bad series I think we'll retain the ashes, but if he gets 16-20 wickets each test -quite possible- then I can't see our bowlers matching it.

I really wish Vaughan & Jones were fit.

It would be an astonishing world record if he did. I doubt anyone would ever match it.
