The most serious threat to our sexual freedom that this shitty, morally corrupt government has foisted on us is about to threaten a lot of us with 3 years in the pokie and the reaction is....so what? Wake up you fuckers

For all your disillusionment, which I feel as well, my point is still we are about to be fucked well and proper. By being a voter , as small as one is, one can still tell ones elected rep that they wont get ones vote as a result of certain legislation. I've been, until recently a life long Labour voter, but a recent positive reply from my Tory MP about my abhorance of ID cards, has shifted my allegiance somewhat. If the conservatives establish themselves as the party protecting the rights of the individual, against an over intrusive state, whilst accepting there is room for a common/collectivist good (the tricky bit) they might be able to tempt me over. I'm looking forward to his reply to my asking him to object to the abolish porn proposals from NL.

The Tories would be no different in power. They just need something to oppose but it's all waffle, hot air, and posing. Deep down, I've not seen the Tories disagree with anything the Labour party's done for the last 9 years.
They've had the odd disagreement about costs, or ways of doing things, but the actual acts & proposals have pretty much been in parallel from party to party.
It's like a weekend away with the girlfriend. You both have different views about which route is the fastest, but you're both agreeing on the destination.

You are probably right. It is so depressing.

Labour (and the Tories, I suppose) may be making all the noise, but who keeps pushing the agenda with regard ID cards? Teflon Tone keeps saying the police argument with regard ID cards and 90-day detention without charge has persuaded him. But that really means the spooks at MI5.
Maybe Tony, Gordy, Reidy and various Daves have read 1984---but they obviously haven't been frightened by it.

Its not a feedom of information issue, thats something else: its a privacy thing. The application of this legislation will involve a massive intrusion into our privacy just to police it. There may be a lot of porn around, but wacking a prison term on for watching some of it will deter people from looking in the first place. Those that do continue to look will probably be subject to raids using info supplied by ISPs. And when we all have our Blair Pass forced on us to access any service, you will probably have to swipe it on your pc to use the internet at all, leaving a very clear trail of where you have been for the police to check.
It is possible that European laws on privacy and free trade and the movement of goods legally bought in one part of Europe to another, might conflict with this stupid legislation, but sadly governments have long been allowed to enact laws that regulate moral behaviour in their country.

Agree - everyone should vote. They're not "all the same" as people like to use as a justification for being lazy. They may all be wankers, but some wankers are better than others.

I've been harping on about this since the consultation began and apart from a handful no one seems interested and I just don't understand why.
Perhaps they will wake up when the faint hope of Donna from Warrington on Boobcore showing some woman crinckle dissappears from our screens?
