Mainly happy times but mixed with a little boredom. A mad rush to buy everyones' presents in the last 3 hours of shopping time! My Dad playing Andy Williams carols -or is it Bing Crosby, or both?- That film 'The Snowman', 'The Wizard of Oz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, & The Sound of Music' on tv.

I guess the magic of Christmas fades with age, and then reappears when you've children of your own? I've no kiddies yet, so it's mainly drinking & eating too much whilst counting the amount of 'deodorant sets' I've got!

*smells armpits nervously*

Someone getting raped/murdered/beaten in front of a christmas tree on eastenders again. Seriously would it fucking kill BBC to make and show some christmas programes instead of a goddamn soap opera thats shown 52 weeks a year? I remember being a kid and BBC and ITV would be advertising their movies and other christmas programes now.

Oh yeah and trying to find a suitable gift for family when they`ve got every electronic device, toiletry going.

Memories mainly, Timex ads on the tv, cigar smoke, Lesley Crowther visiting a childrens ward on Christmas morning, Church bells on the cold night air, liqueur chocolates, Stilton cheese and piccalilli, Caravan's Land of Grey and Pink (gift from 1st girlfriend) that fleeting feeling that you feel contented with your lot in life.

Two days off of work.

Memories of happy times as a kid.

I'll generally ignore Xmas for the next few years, if I end up a parent I'm sure the magic will flood back but for now the cynic in me only see's it as a hassle and expense.

In my own way I'll try to reclaim a little of the magic this year by limiting the amount I spend and insisting the family do the same for me, I'll be happier around the family and drop the grumpy persona.

Of course, the other half with tinsel around her tits and wearing nothing but a santa hat will bring back the magic for a few minutes ;)
