just been watching some American porn on sextv and kinda got to wondering. A few years ago when sex and shopping was on Chanell 5 it used to say how big the American porn market was and how many titles were produced and how many DVDs/videos were sold. The figures at the time were mind blowing!! And with some of the stuff i saw back then i could understand it,beautifull women well made films ect But every thing I have seen from the states for the past two years or more has been "Yeah taste your ass bitch" or "Choke on my cock and lick my balls" stuff. It is (to me at least) awful and degrading. It is such a huge shift of style in such a short period i was wondering what effect it has had on the U.S global porn market? I for one an slightly concerned that there is a huge market for some of the things i have seen of late. But once again this is just my opion any feedback on this would be viewed with great interest

I think the popularity of this can be seen in music . I remember when rap groups like NWA and 2 Live Crew became real popular , real fast by using the word 'fuck' 'nigger' and 'suck mymuthfuckin dick bitch ass ho fo I buss a cap in ya ass'' as an anethema to the plethora of love songs and Live Aids and 'We are the wooorrrld, we are its chiiiilllldreeeeen!

It seems this kind of angry, disresepectful to women stuff is the same anethema to the nicely shot videos you described. I imagine it feeds the angry and enraged at women psyche in individuals who cant get that type of sex or cant get it in general but one side of me thinks this kind of porn is more cathartic than just plain damaging. Please note I have not used the word misogyny as I dont feel this would entirely be the case.

I dont feel people who watch this kind of porn would consciously go out and treat women this way as much as they would like to therefore its a form of escapism like anyhting else (drugs and alcohol).

The truth is, mercenary business minds think that this harder, faster, filthier and grittier approach is the way to make money and as long as the kitty rings kuh-ching its going to continue doing so.

But hey, it takes all sorts to make a world right?
