Sir Elton makes florist wilt

FRIDAY , 08 DECEMBER 2006

Sir Elton John may have arrived late and stayed in the capital a fleeting six hours but an exasperated Wellington florist had first-hand experience of the superstar's demands.

Juliette Florist shop received an order last week for Sir Elton's dressing room to be adorned with long- stemmed red roses and white peonies and an "explosion of colour" to decorate his entertainment room at Westpac Stadium.

But just as florist Jacque Holbrook put the finishing touches on the bouquets in the dressing room a revised order came through from Sir Elton's staff, saying the star had changed his mind and wanted short-stemmed roses placed in small square glass containers to appear as a "hedge" lining the walls.

"Looking back, we would not have missed the experience - but providing flowers for the Queen on her last visit was a dream compared to the experience with Sir Elton," she said yesterday.

The red and white bouquets were removed and work began on the "rose hedges".

Ms Holbrook said the hardest part was finding a big number of small, square glass vases to hold about 100 short-stemmed roses. After much running around they seized upon pyrex dishes from Briscoes to do the job.

But once the hedge was installed and the requested colour "explosion" was completed another message arrived to say that all the flowers were to be stripped bare of leaves.

The "explosion" of colour was also to be changed a monochromatic scheme - different tones of the same colour - and instead of being "staggered" the display was to be ball-shaped.

Ms Holbrook and assistant Brigette Gilpin said they were gobsmacked. "It was so exciting at first but it was deflating as the orders kept changing," Ms Holbrook said.

"This is not Covent Garden or Alsmeer in Holland, this is little old Wellington where the Wednesday flower market is very small. But with the market manager going the extra mile, we basically cleaned him out and managed to get enough cream and green flowers for the huge bouquet."

With immense relief Ms Holbrook finally completed the works of floral art about one hour before Sir Elton - a superstar among flower fanciers - walked into the dressing room.

I agree, he is a first class wanker. In fact he gives pricks and wankers a bad name.

So you don't want his money! He is a great performing artist whatever his whims.

It was probably a very nice fat earner for the florist methinks..and they probably charged for the first lot.........I'm a household name in real life and you should see some of the bollocks I get up to..my valet puts toothpaste on my toothbrush and holds the specimen bottle when I have to provide piss.
Or am I confusing myself with Prince Charles..........

An easy way to check.

Take a look at the wife.

If she looks like a horse ? you are Prince Charles.

A great artist but sad in the extreme. Once watched him on a docu where he went into Verscae in New York, bought shirts and ties en masse and just chucked them at his lackey, was a apthetic show of Me Me Me.
