Update On prostitute Killings
Posted: Tue Dec 12, 2006 9:31 am
The third prostitute found dead near Ipswich has been officially named - with police revealing she was asphyxiated.
The body of Anneli Alderton, 24, of Colchester, Essex, was discovered at Nacton, on Sunday.
Det Chief Supt Stewart Gull, who is heading the inquiry, said it appeared she had been strangled.
But there were no signs of asphyxiation on two other prostitutes who were found dead elsewhere in Suffolk, he continued.
Appealing to the killer, Mr Gull said: "You clearly have a significant problem, give me a call, we can deal with this. My appeal is simple, give yourself up."

Two Already Murdered.

Meanwhile, fears are growing for the safety of two missing prostitutes.
Mr Gull has said the murders might be the work of a serial killer.
Suffolk Police have mounted extra patrols in Ipswich's red light district.
There are also moves to draft in extra officers from outside Suffolk - the force only has 1,300 officers. Detectives have already been brought in from Norfolk.
Meanwhile, prostitutes in Ipswich are terrified of being attacked, with some said to be carrying rape alarms and bricks in their bags for self defence.
Gemma Adams, 25, of Ipswich, vanished in the early hours of November 15. Her naked body was found in a stream at nearby Hintlesham on December 2.
Tania Nicol, aged 19, also from Ipswich, disappeared on October 30. Her body was found naked in a pond at nearby Copdock on December 8.
Detectives said neither Miss Adams nor Miss Nicol had been sexually assaulted.
They have not revealed how the women died and are waiting for the results of post-mortems.
There is concern about Paula Clennell, 24, not seen since late on Saturday and Annette Nicholls, 29, who has not been seen since December 4.
Mr Gull said Miss Clennell had spoken to a friend on Sunday but had not been seen since or contacted police.
