Hammersmith Palais

This country is going to the dogs
They?re trying to take away Camden markets and the Astoria. Now this...!
Historic music venue Hammersmith Palais, venue host to the likes of The Clash, U2 and Sex Pistols, is facing the threat of closure after 90 years.
The London venue, which has provided a launching pad for a host of breaking bands over the years, looks set to be demolished and turned into an office block and restaurant.
US based developers Parkway Properties, who own the Palais, have put forward the conversion proposals which will be considered by Hammersmith and Fulham Council by January 24.
If the development is approved, it will spell the end of one of London's most historic music venues.
Over the years, the Palais has played host to thousands of bands and artists from the likes of Glenn Miller and Bill Haley to the Rolling Stones, U2, The Pogues and Sex Pistols
The venue is also obviously known for The Clash track 'White Man In Hammersmith Palais', written after hearing a series of reggae artists at the venue.
What is WRONG with this Country? too many greedy bastards, trying to make as much money as they can, no doubt it will become a block of flats that the working class wont be able to afford.
Maybe someone in the record industry should start something along the lines of the National Trust for places of Musical Interest.
We are no longer a Nation of shopkeepers but a Nation of Property Developers. The false economy based on property prices under Blairs? regime is tantamount to a pyramid scam with the few at the top making and the many at the bottom losing, problem is it's too late and will take a massive recession (watch this space v. closely over next 18 months) or a whole generation to rectify the financial imbalance.
Several Pubs in our town centre area have been demolished and replaced by a cul de sac of Barretts? houses it's so wrong.....
Dont think anyone studied the implications of buy to let mortgages just per usual saw the $$$$$'s!!!
