Let us all pray that the demented, sad, and rather out dated Fidel passes away quietly. He has managed to keep Cuba 50 years in the past and treated his citizens are virtual slaves. And he gave free holidays to the KGBs station chief in Britain, good old Arthur Scargill.

Thanks to Castro, Cuba has an outstanding education system, to which all of its citizens have access. In a survey of all South American countries and the Caribbean, it ranked first in maths and science.
Its health system is second to none in the world and is free to all citizens. Life expectancy for adults is higher than in the US.
This despite the unfair, cruel and immoral embargo by the US.
In February 1962, President Kennedy summoned his aide, Pierre Salinger, to the Oval Office and told him to purchase every Petit Upmann cigar in Washington DC (this was Kennedy's favourite Cuban cigar).
The following morning Kennedy again summoned Salinger to the Oval Office and asked him how successful he had been. Salinger replied that he had managed to purchase two thousand of the cigars. Thereupon Kennedy opened a drawer of his desk, took out a piece of paper and signed it. It was the embargo against Cuba.

Cuba produced brilliant atheletes that were'nt allowed to turn professional.
The outstanding boxer, Teofilo Stevenson was probably one of a handful of boxers that could beat Ali.
He was offered millions to turn professional, but wasn't allowed because of Castro.

When I was a lad, I got into stamp collecting, and Cuba along with Paraguay were always the best stamps to start off with, Big, bright vivid colours...............years later, I found that used toilet roll is worth more.

He pulled a masterstroke that this country could learn from.
In the early 1980's, he got all the shit society prisoners and let them fuck off to Florida giving the US a MAJOR headache.
He weeded out the shit of his country, and you have to admire that.
The film SCARFACE is an example of this

Nah he dumped his shit on someone else`s doorstep and let them deal with it. Kind of what France does to us by sticking Asylum seekers in a refuge next to the channel tunnel.

Hang on a minute. There are daily power cuts, the drinking water isn't safe, the economy is fucked, there is a secret police to rival the Stasi, he gives 3 hour long speeches that make Blair sound riveting...
Friends of mine have been to Cuba in the last 3 months, not one of them was impressed. The people are treated like cattle, the buildings are in disrepair, the shops have nothing to sell and the locals are warned for being too friendly to tourists. I agree they have good education bit no use to someone who can't get a decent job, run his own business or travel abroad. Bit like having a great Golf Swing and being in prison.
