Personnaly I would generally trust a judge more than a politician (and I dont have to remind some members of this board what they think of politicians) to come to a sensible, just and correct decision on sentencing. And it has to be said, prison ISNT always the best thing to do with an offender, even a saddo who downloads a bit of juvenile. Bear in mind that if this government has its way, a number of posters here would be banged up for what they do now in the grey area of the internet.

Hard man John (call me Doctor) Reid is always telling other people that their departments are 'not fit for purpose'
How long before he realises that he is the one that is 'not fit for purpose' & fvcks off.

Scotland has a Minister of Justice...Wales is still 'Anglo-Welsh' for criminal justice and still comes under the Home Secretary...

Any party seeking a change in the devolution settlement to give the Welsh a Minister of Justice after May will sweep the board if this is anything to go by.

Apparently this bloke had been on remand for eight months so if he had been sent down he would have been released shortly after, the Judge was just making a political statement.

And that is the point- judges should not make political statements.
