Hey peeps

I am currently starting a new company with a partner, it is going to be another online print company but focused on Manchester rather than all of UK.

We are putting together the ideas we need for the data base but we are not technical people. We know what info we need but we need some help in setting it up and getting it to do things like send out automated emails etc. We want to use Access as we have this and MS products are quite easy to work.

If someone can help us in this area then we will help you with your marketing. If you know little about marketing then don't worry as we will break it down step by step for for. We will make you think so differently about your company and make you see how much money you can make.

If anyone is interested in this then please email me at info@mkprinting.co.uk

Thanks

Matt, MK Printing

I use a fantastic programme called ACT! You should look at that, not sure if it is exactly what you need, but worth a look.

Its online your more than likely going to be looking at MS SQL and ASP, which, which altho Access compat, you will in reality do very little with access it will all be done off the server :)

I'm not an ASP Developer, I can do ASP/VBScript but i left that area when .net came out, as i used to use VB to prototype and test apps before writting in them in VC++, Now i just use Perl for crunching and PHP for everything else.

Your DB, you should think about all the info you need then break to groups, and normalisation maybe something worth reading for an idea :)

Personally I'd find a good ASP dev and pay them to do the job right, theres many ways to do it, some are scalable, some are not, and the ones that are, may not be scalable to enterprise level, so do it right first time.

Thanks for the comments.

I am not a technical person at all but I know what I want the software to do. I am going to write out exactly how I want it act and then give it to a developer to see how feasible it is.

I am not sure to go computer or web based as of yet. Both have pros and cons I suppose.

If anyone has any ideas or advice then please let me know.

If you go web based, you can work on it anywhere in the world, and you can plug, your shop into it, allowing people to automatically process orders, check order status, and 1000 more things. Also more than 1 person at a time can work on it :)
