hey all!!
Just another slightly drunken evening here and was watching the late great Ronnie Lane. This has to be one of this countrys most under rated talents. certainly over shadowed by the front men he suported (Steve Marriot and Rod "the git" Stewart) I urge any one who has not heard of him to go to youtube or any where else you can see his work. Bloody great bloke who's life was cut short by such a terrible illness!!
Have a great weekend you crazy kids

Maybe its an age thing, or just that these days young people dont know anything older than thre week before last, but I cant conceive of anyone with the slightest interest in music /culture / recent history not knowing who Ronnie Lane was.

C'mon Andy .. I know who he is but only afficionados are gonna know who he is. I agree with you that culture cycles so quickly and people's attention spans are short and as a result they're more concerned with 'now' and things of value are ignored, but you can't reasonably expect people to have heard of the likes of Ronnie Lane, Roy Harper, Kevin Ayres etc etc. It's too 'niche'. If they're open minded though, get turned-on to some good things, and make the effort then these kinds of artists will get more recognition.

I suppose so. But it is annoying.

The point of the post really was that his work with faces has over shadowed his solo work (imho) I think you have been some what upperty by getting on your soap box about it. I just wanted to post a great song some people out there may not have heard. So sorry if by this simple act of trying to share some thing I love I have upset you some how.
Take care

I obviously had no problem with, nor was I upset by you wanting to share music you and many others including me, like. I was simply commenting on how these days it is often nescessary to explain who somebody from our collective cultural past was. If you think that was me being 'upperty' and on a soap box, you didn't understand my comment.
