Del La Soul

I went to see De La Soul play on Saturday night. I'd almost forgotten them but the gig refreshed a lot of memories and they were fantastic live performers. Given the mediocre quality of so much hip hop, seeing these guys in action was excellent.

Any fans out there?

Were they Transmitting Live from Mars?

I hadn't heard them for years until they did that thing with Gorillaz.

I saw them years ago at Finsbury Park with Brand Nubian. they (De La)wouldnt get off the stage for Coolio but they blew the audience away! They really know how to rock a party and get the audience involved and came back 5 times for encores!...Apparently A Tribe Called Quest are just as great on stage and used to support De La Soul when they toured together.

Ah great days.

Another great night out was when Busta Rhymes didnt turn up and a riot broke out at The Forum. That was exciting to see police turning up with riot shields and the audience wrecking the venue. A different kind of party for sure but still quite an exciting night out. Apparently he wasnt allowed in the country which was pretty stupid since his tickets sold out the week before.

People rave about Tribe Called Quest... must refresh my iPod. One of the best hip hop acts I saw was Cypress Hill on a big festival stage. They're very high energy and used the whole stage area.
