Like all Daily Mail stories it is simply a disguised criticism of the Labour Government. The main point of the story, and I mean story, is that the MOD has wasted ?18.000 of tax payers money and then decided not to go ahead with the idea.

"and remember folks in the Mail so it must be true !"

George Orwell once famously said "Some things are true, even though the Daily Telegraph says they are true". Meaning of course that we should not automatically pooh-pooh a story simply because it has been published by a paper that takes a different political or social stance to ourselves. This story was also covered on the BBC's 'Newsnight' - a respected source. So they took it seriously. It's the oft rumored issue of 'remote viewing', where western security agencies are said to employ the services of psychic sorts who can project their consciousness through space and time in order to view people and events that are of interest to the respective agencies. I guess it doesn't work all that well or they would have got Osama by now. But I keep an open mind on these issues.

Given all their fandangled gadgets to find a watch screw in the middle of a desert they cant find a man like Osama?! Yeah right...Some one somewhere knows where he is and I'm not talking about his own people here.

He is better off out there as long as he is alive the West always has an excuse to poke their noses into people of the easts affairs, kick down doors indiscriminately and stir up more trouble with those they want to create fear and paranoia about.

The day Osama is taken to task for his actions is the day when the US has to find something bigger than this guy to use to meddle in affairs...well thats the way I see it anyway. I could be well wrong.

I somehow don't think you are wrong.

The US always needs a bogeyman, and struggled to find one after the fall of the Soviet Union. I know a lot of the conspiracy nuts claim bin Laden is an invention of the CIA, but this once they may be right.

(By the way, Terry, four weeks from now you'll regret not getting a good night's sleep when you had the chance)

You don't need to be a "conspiracy nut" to think that. It's public knowledge that the CIA funded and armed bin Laden during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The only question mark is whether they broke contact with him after that.

If this is true OEJ then the best thing Osama can do is give himself up to the western media. Preferably the French media, and give his own side of the story independent of American or Islamic media corporations.

America would be screwed if you're theory turns out to be true!
