Possible Virus - Can Anybody Advise Please?

Hello Jacques,
I have tried to use the Panda online scan three times this evening.
The first two times, it completed about a fifth of my files, having identified 17 items of 'spyware', when it stalled on this file: C:/oem.ini - then all IE windows abruptly closed, with no error message.
I then opened that file in Notepad, only to find that it contained very little other than a reference to McAfee Product Registration. I then tried the scan again, this time with my McAfee Virus Scan disabled, but exactly the same thing happened.
Could this be a sign that Global Warning is real after all, and due to CO2 emissions from my pipe?

Hello Mr. R
Dunno what's going on there - the oem.ini is just registrration information.
Possibly a carbolic reaction to the 1.21 gigawatts of C02 emmisions from your motherboad fan....maybe.
Does it do this with Housecall?

I suspect you have exceeded your microcarbonsoft footprint, and the gods of the rainforest are bearing down on you faster than a lady with a moustach, shut down your pc go outside and say...'Fuck Mc Beth' four times, then drink a large glass of Sanatogen turn your PC on again and all will be well.
Trust me I,m a Doctor.
Then run AVG as Jaques says it,s just a system file

I've had online scanners freeze my PC many times. The best thing you can do is install some spyware removing software, such as Spybot, then run a scan with your existing checker. Trying to run/install another virus scanner alongside McAfee is not really recommended.

Well, Housecall completed its duties without any problem - just the usual spyware detected and removed.
It's a mystery what happened with Panda though.
Perhaps I'll try a longer-stemmed pipe, so that my CO2 emissions are at least cooler in future.

I have had a similar experience w/ Panda. I am beginning to think they give false positives in order to steer you into buying their product. Unlike Housecall Panda doesn't seem to clear malware away w/ the scan.

Don't know about Panda, Housecall is ok, better to have Anti-Virus software on your system rather than on the internet. I've been using AVG for ages & its brilliant.
Norton, Crap (could have all sorts of shit in it, rubbish probram).
McAffee, Absolute shit (used to be the Market Leaders, now they are just useless).

I use Panda - it's good and has done the job required, but like Norton is resource hungry, I won't be renewing my subscription.
