THE DAY I DISCOVERED ELIZABETH HURLEY

I put an ad in the Stagefor actors, dancers and singers and held an audition in some rehearsal rooms at the Angel. I also received a telephone call from a girl who said that she was an actress named Elizabeth Hurley. She gave me her address in Gloucester Terrace and I went round to the basement flat and rang the bell. Elizabeth had described herself as ?beautiful? and she certainly was standing there with a gold dress that showed a generous amount of cleavage.
?Come in? she said and I was also greeted with another person with a hooray Henry accent who introduced himself as Piers English but whom we all know today as Hugh Grant.
Elizabeth explained to me that she was an actress and so was her boyfriend Piers. She said that she was in a TV ad with her dog which Piers brought in from the bedroom. It was a huge fluffy animal with white fur.
I asked her whether she wanted ?70 per hour which I paid to models or the ?30 that I paid to actors. She answered the modelling rate! She did a couple of hours filming in her gold dress and I paid her, but she ?did not do any nude work,? she explained or it would ruin her acting career.
I was making the London Video Show to sell to Channel 4 and Nick Hart-Davies had told me that they would buy it. However at one of the shoots I had an argument with an actress who had sent in a ?recent? photo taken about ten years previously. She reported me to Equity and I got a phone call.
?I hear that you are using non Equity and Equity members in the same production?
I said ?So what??
Reply; ?You are not allowed to mix them.?
I told him to fuck off and when I went to Channel 4 to meet Nick Hart-Davies his solicitor Don (forgot his name) was there and he threatened Nick Hart-Davies with ?If you buy this show I will resign.? So that was the end of that.
Anyway after Channel 4 looked at the London Video Show and Elizabeth Hurley they offered her a part in a serial in which she played a spy in wartime Germany.
