Just watched BBC Parliamnet about 5-50pm and The Commons is debating this issue. Why? It is history. My great uncle was gassed by the Germans in 1917 and died, I am not about to sue modern Germany for compensation.
Next we will be apologising to the French for giving them a nasty slap at Agincourt and banning Henry V as racist. New Labour really has fucked this country.

I think this has been touched on before....

It's just another way of playing on white guilt for money.

Their great grandparents were the slaves, not them, and they're using their ancestors position for financial gain.

What do mixed race people do? Get half/quarter pay? It's stupidity. We should be more interested in making a better future, not looking to scrounge for handouts.

"It's just another way of playing on white guilt for money."

What guilt? I am so utterly not guilty. Maybe those silly pretentious white folk who profess to be so cut up about the issue could hand over all their goods and chattels? Of course the wanky fuckers won't countenances that. What they really mean by apologies and reparations is taking money off ordinary hardworking British folk (via stealth taxes) and then handing it over to Africa to be pissed away by monumentally incompetent regimes, depots, and dictators.

Yes, I?m sure Britain benefited greatly from our involvement in the slave trade and no doubt it has got something to do with us being one of the wealthiest nations in the world today. Wealth that now funds the lifestyle we have become accustomed to? and who wants to give that up? I don?t even see those pretentious silly twats putting their money where there mouths are. No, I quite like all this western wealth and prosperity - even if it is partly the result of money invested from the slave traded. So, what I suggest is that we twat anyone who is idiotic enough to suggest that we give it back ? waddaya say?

Anyhow, we?ve probably given the capital value back to Africa half a dozen times over since 1945. But they?ve pissed it away in spectacular fashion. We made wise use of ours. It?s not our fault that they are not up to doing the same.

Hey, has anyone heard about that group of pretentious middleclass silly fuckers who are marching in chains from Hull to London in a gesture of solidarity with the slaves and to apologise for your ancestors? ?I know, I know?what a set of wankers.

Anyhow, I was reading at the weekend that they have been taken aback by the level of abuse, bad eggs, and tomatoes that have been hurled at them. Instead of gestures of fraternity and proletarian solidarity that the deluded, elitist, fuckers so misguidedly assumed would greet them on their way, they have encountered gestures of a quite different kind. In fact ordinary folks have been stopping by to vent their anger and contempt for these knobheads - with Anglo Saxon oaths like ?Go home yer soft twats!? ?Bollocks, yer beardies!? ?Guilty? You may be - but don?t fuckin? count me in, yer poncy cunts!?

The Dutch were even nastier slave traders than the English. But I don't think (touch wood...) any Dutchman would be marching in chains to apologise for his ancestors.

On the other hand most Dutch politicians want to preserve the tie between the Netherlands and the Dutch Antilles. In practice this means we keep pumping money into these islands and their corrupt governments keep squandering it. After all, our ancestors brought their ancestors there and employed them as slaves. This means we have to provide for their offspring until the end of time, of course.
In my opinion this is just as stupid as marching in chains to apologise for what our ancestors did. There are six islands - this means six registered letters to get rid of them!

This opinion is considered VERY politically incorrect in my country. When a Dutch politician reads this, he will think I am a fascist and a racist. Most normal folks however secretly agree with me.
