F.A Cup semi final venues

Dear all,
Does anyone know why are Villa Park and Old Trafford always chosen?
Is it down to location or capacity?
Surely Arsenal or Man City have newer stadia with bigger capacity than Villa Park.

Dunno about Old Trafford but you can garuantee that the pitch is in great shape at Villa Park.....they play the fewest games !grin!

Its the old system at the end of the day, history always had these 2 and sometimes Hillsborough as venues for semi finals, and as this is the LAST time it happens, the FA decreed not to break from tradition.
From 2007-08 season, ALL semi's will be at Wembley

Plus Villa Park is better for Man U fans, most who live inside the M25 corridor!!

Semis back at Wembley again? Hmm...not sure about that one...I went to the 1994 semi-final (Luton V Chelsea), and although it was great to get the mighty Hatters playing there (not bad as a second tier side having knocked out Newcastle and West Ham on the way), I think the magic was tarnished somewhat by not holding just the final there. Still tradition seems to be something that just gets forgotten nowadays...
