Was this judge taking the piss?

Maybe proving a point that Muslims want it all their own way eh?

Still, justice was done in the end. Can't believe the opera was cancelled though. Idiots.

Not every muslim is an idiot.
The judge, on the other hand...

My 'idiots' comment was pointed towards the people that cancelled the opera, not Muslims specifically. (of course all went well in the end).

I don't know -neither does anyone- whether Mohamed ever struck a woman. He was, however, a bandit that went around place to place robbing anyone he came across. Christians and Jews were favourite targets weren't they?

He also had many wives and took slave girls. (I doubt they were 'all' willing slaves to a robber) and thus he was probably a rapist too.

A nice guy it seems.

Hi Sam,

I did not blame you, I blamed the judge (and everyone who knows exactly what is offensive to a muslim, and knows even better than the muslims themselves know).

You can hardly object when a muslim draws the same conclusion as you do, even if you don't understand why he jumped to that conclusion, can you?

Yeah I know you weren't blaming me. Was just pointing out my 'idiots' jibe wasn't aimed at Muslims mate, nothing else. The judge took things too far, but I can see she was making a serious point.

Where I live right now the Muslim community has asked that personal affairs and small claims be judged by Sharia law. Just small things like divorce, petty theft and financial dealings. Not all Muslims want this, but a lot do.

I don't think you should pick and choose which laws you want to live by. It's unfair on everyone else. We should all try and sing from the same hymn sheet if you get my meaning? I guess the judge was making a point knowing it would be overturned. Maybe she's dealt with Muslims complaining about German law before, and how the laws go against Muslim beliefs and traditions? Who knows?

Like my title for the thread suggests: She was probably taking the piss (unusual for a German to have a humorous bone- yeah yeah, generalisation, I know !laugh!), but maybe it was something that was needed to be pointed out.

I have been looking at a few German newssites, but either no one bothered to ask the judge what possessed her or (more probably) she refused to comment.
But you are right. There ought to be one law for everyone.

I am not particularly fond of christian democrats, but this is spot-on. I am glad many muslims agree with him, even if this means they change a 7th Century robbers' captain into a kind of 7th Century Gandhi.
