Just read that he died at age of 83

Don't think he played the drums but he was a friend of
the Krays so may have drummed a few heads in his time
Come on Steve56 don't lose your touch (LOL)

U.F.O. What a series, birds in purple wigs, and silver outfits, what more could you want?

Not too keen on UFO but special Branch was a good show and
you are correct he was a perfect foil in the detectives for the
daftness of Carrott and Powell

Didn't look out of place helping out Alec Guinness in Tinker, Tailor . . . and helped Doctor Who get up Michael Grade's nose by playing a racist eastender.

If you look at the police chiefs in the likes of Prime Suspect (Helen Mirren's boss), it's obvious they said, "Let's get a George Sewell-type." That in itself is a compliment.

I can only repeat what has already been said. He will be sadly missed. Most noted for his roles in UFO, Special Branch and The Detectives, he had the face that could play either a villain or a good guy.

Nothing of note was mentioned in the media with his passing, obviously if it was someone from eastenders or x factor it would warrant their attention. A sad reflection on today's apathetic society.

For die-hard Sweeney fans, George played villain Vic Tolman in a classic episode

He was also in 'Get Carter'. He died last week, but his death only warranted a tiny mention in the press. What a shame that a great character actor should get such a minimal obituary.
