The former speaker of the House of Commons, the last holder to wear a wig, died over the weekend.
Although he was elected as a Tory MP when Thatcher came to power, she attempted to block him from being the speaker. This is all revealed in his autobiography. Has been described as a member of the 'awkward squad'.
