Does it bug you that much?!

This forum's (used as a contraction of -acceptable?- 'forum is') punctuation is very good compared to others.

You should see some of the footy forums I sometimes browse. All that 'txt spk' is acceptable on a mobile phone, but fucking awful to read on a screen, in a forum.

Language is constantly evolving though, and all this 'txt spk', 'lol'ing, and US spell checking will surely affect the language, as time goes by.

Though my punctuation's pretty bad at times, I'm competent enough to appreciate it when a come across a well structured post, along with good punctuation & spelling. It sure is easier on the eye.

ps, do not look through recent posts of mine and notice that I inserted an apostrophe in 'went', like this: 'wen't'.

Shhhhh! !oops!

Just to annoy you but you never have a comma before the word and

So: She bought some butter, a pint of milk, and some jam.

Should be:

She bought some butter, a pint of milk and some jam.

I know its a rule but I can't explain why. I think it's to do with the and being a pause word anyway if you understand what I mean. !confused!

What really pisses me of big time at the moment is the number of people using the word 'of' instead of 'have' ie "should of gone' and 'could of done'.

I even hear TV presenters saying it, proper ones too, not the sort that present chavscum TV.

Where did this abomination come from?

Brutal .. the tone of kindly paternalism you have adopted in this thread is a pleasant change from your more usual uncompromising dispensations of the 'brutal truth'. You are to affectation what Ron 'Chopper' Harris was to the less physically robust forward talent of the 60s, but i'm starting to believe that you have a more sensitive side too.

I saw that on the internet too.

When I read English at Uni, they told us to teach children not to use it.
