A single parent, took her 3 kids on holiday, twins aged 2 and a girl aged 3. She lived on benefits, didn't work etc etc...... she goes to the pub on the complex and left her kids alone, sleeping.......little girl goes missing....police search.......etc etc......blah blah blah
WHAT WOULD THE UK's MEDIA HEADLINES HAVE BEEN THEN ??????
"Uncaring mother leaves kids unattended"
"Scum parent abandon's Kid"
You have a go.......
I don't think dickie branson, phil " the nose" green, etc etc would have been putting any money up...

Fair comment, but..........
........considering the sensitivity of the actual issue at hand, is your post appropriate, mate?
Irrespective of the social standing of the mother, or parents, the people concerned are going through hell.

I don't think the parents social standing has anything to do with t.
The point he is trying to make is they left a 3 year old, and twin 2 year olds on their own, with nobody keeping an eye on them, whilst they went out for dinner. From what I've read, the place where they stayed had a babysitting facility, which they did not see fit to use.
I have every sympathy with the missing kid, but none for the parents, and no amount of crying on TV is going to change the fact that they could have easily prevented this, if they had used some common sense.
That is my opinion, and if you do not agree with it, then sorry. They say opinions are like arseholes - everybody's got one.
With that being said, I hope they find her, safe & well, but after this long, that looks unlikely.

I wholeheartedly agree, CJ.
The mother has a lot to deal with- her misery is compounded by the fact that it was self-inflicted. For someone of the medical profession to be criminally, insanely negligent, is abysmal.
However, that will be on her conscience for the rest of her days- that I can sympathise with. For her gross stupidity, no, I have little sympathy of any form.
My 2p: Madeleine wont be found alive. Incentives (?1m rewards) do not help- that's why the Portuguese Police threw it out- every Tom, Dick and Harry will be coming forward with "information" to get their mitts on the cash. Why there was a furore about the stance of the Portuguese on this, I'll never know. Who the f**k wants a reward to cloud up a vital investigation??
VonBoy is perfectly correct- a single mother, or a person of lower status, would have been pilloried; no rewards offered by rich benefactors.
However, until everything has been said and done, none of our opinions are actually going to help.
The situation is dire; we can but pray for a miracle.

Even if we had a benefit-class, single mother, I think the tabloids would be apprehensive of using such headlines as 'Sum Mother' as they'd look pretty cruel if that very day the kids body turns up mutilated. A missing and found alive scenario would be fair game though.
It doesn't look good for the young girl, but I hope she turns up ok, somewhere.

What has amazed me about this story is the media's massive and intense coverage. Why THIS particular story?
Unfortunately, every so often we read stories about a child going missing. But it has never commanded this vast amount of coverage!
All things being equal, the media have now set their own benchmark and the next unfortunate time when a child goes missing they should give it equal pre-eminence.
Its absolutely appropriate!!!

At the end of the day if the parents weren't so selfish to leave their little ones alone while they went out and had dinner little Maddie would still be with them.
Simple as and end of.
