It appears Harry Hewitt wont be going to Iraq to stand shoulder to shoulder with his men, he will be watching it on television though.
Good Man.

The right decision IMO.The guy would be a complete liberty to the whole squadron.I wouldn't like to be in the same jeep as him driving about Iraq anyway !happy!.
The Royals should stick to what they know best and thats making money for charity.Leave the fighting to the real soldiers.

He could have gone in his nazi uniform and just confused everyone .. a sort of Pythonesque break in the proceedings. Instead of being billeted with the chaps though I dare say he'll be spending thousands of pounds on champagne in exclusive nightclubs instead.
He's more likely to die from syphilis than he is from catching a bullet !

Apparently although not going to Iraq, he will be doing Chelsey.

Theres a big difference between flying heicopters in Falklands and whats going on in Iraq. The british could see and knew who there enemy was in the Falklands, while in Iraq they don't have a clue where the next suicide bomber is coming from.
I blame the media myself. He could have been there and back by now if he had done it on the sly.Instead we got daily updates on wiether he was going or not on the telly ,The insurgence and enemy must have been rubbing there hands at the thought of Royal blood.
Unless they were going to give him a pencil pushing job in a tent hidden somewhere in the greenzone,I think it was best to cancel the plan to send him.

I JUST feel a bit sorry for the nightclub owners in downtown Basra who were banking on making a bloody fortune out of Harry and his "chums" when they arrived for "active duty".
Yeah, what a surprise he ain't going. Makes you wonder what he was in the forces for at all. Well, at least he got a nice uniform to swap for that Nazi one that he wore as a spiffing jape at Dingo or Smudger's jolly old wheeze a couple of years ago...

That's more than possible and, of course, not going to Iraq is something the press may well hold against him should he commit yet another tacky faux-pas outside a nightclub or wherever.
