I remember back in the 70's playing 'Stratego', 'Risk' and 'Escape from Colditz'. They'd all go on for hours and hours.

There was a classy little game I enjoyed playing in the early 1970s called Movie Maker. Frustration, though just a snazzier version of Ludo, was really addictive.

I originally played 'Stratego' in the 70's using cardboard figures on a cardboard board. Then in the 90's the game was played with plastic figures. In the 00's there was a CR-ROM version that I purchased from the stationery suppliers called 'The Works'. Only problem with that was it was suspect to viruses!

I recall once in college having a marathon Risk session one afternoon at the fraternity. Went on for hours. We went thru 13 bottles of Pagan Pink & Bali Hai (very cheap wines).

The longest and most complicated board game I've played was 'Escape from Colditz'. Could go on for many hours and if three or more played it could get very confusing!

Ive never heard of this game, only the movie. Could be too new for me tho.

I first played 'EFC' in about 1973. The idea was that player 1 were the German guards and player 2 were the Allied prisoners, who had to try and "escape". The board was designed to replicate Colditz castle. It was divided into many hundreds of squares (I can't recall exactly how many). Each player had a number of pieces each representing a guard or a prisoner (again, I've forgotten exactly how many). With the use of a dice the players would alternate their moves. There was also special cards which could be used by each player to either assit them, or hinder your opponent. It did sometimes get very complicated and long-winded which meant it could go on for many hours!

EFC board was in hexagons wasnt it? germans were black, dutch orange if i recall....roll call got everyone back in line again....
